Every summer, YLW pairs current YLW students with alumni mentors with similar professional interests to share experiences and advice about legal careers, clerkships, fellowships, academia, career transitions, excelling at law school, and everything in between. In non-COVID times, mentors and mentees meet over the summer and begin a mentoring relationship that can continue into the school year. In cities with a critical mass of mentor-mentee pairs (typically, NYC, D.C., Boston, and San Francisco), YLW organizes “reunion” events to allow mentor-mentee pairs to mix and mingle.
During summer 2020, in light of COVID-19, YLW continued its mentorship tradition with a fully remote program. We were thrilled to match over 130 mentorship pairs.
If you are interested in serving as a mentor, look out for emails about the summer 2021 program in spring 2021. In the meantime, check out the tips for effective mentorship we distribute to mentor-mentee pairs here.
